This is a Beta release, but it's really interesting

Krita, an application that is used to make digital painting files from scratch, has been updated to version 2.9 Beta 2 and it comes with a large number of improvements and various fixes.

Professional applications that can be used for design are not usually free, but this is Linux and things are quite different. Krita is actually a great application that comes with zero costs and numerous features. Even if you don't find some features right from the start, you can submit a fix and the developers will eventually implement it.

"Everyone has been working their fingers to the bone to get Krita 2.9 in tip-top shape. For Beta 2, there was a large focus on squishing bugs, fixing crashes, as well as finding memory leaks. There are way too many changes to include everything in the release notes," wrote the devs on their website.

Some of the more important changes include configurable background, numerous multiple document bugs have been fixed, the PDF export has been refined, the selection brush has been removed, a few color selector crashes have been fixed, gmic is now at version 1.6.0.3, and a number of memory leaks have been plugged.

You can download Krita 2.9 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia. This app is still under development, so users might find some bugs.
