Postfix, a mail server that started life at IBM research as an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program, is now at version 2.11.0.

According to its developers, Postfix tries to be fast, easy to administer, and secure. Even if the outside has a definite Sendmail-ish flavor, the inside workings are completely different.

Highlights of Postfix 2.11.0:

• Support has been added for PKI-less TLS server certificate verification with DANE (DNS-based Authentication of Named Entities). This requires a DNS resolver that validates DNSSEC replies. • Support has been added for LMDB databases. Originally developed as part of OpenLDAP, LMDB is the first persistent Postfix database that can be shared among multiple writers such as postscreen daemons; • A new postscreen_dnsbl_whitelist_threshold feature has been implemented; • Advanced master.cf query/update support has been added to access service attributes as "name = value" pairs.
