Porteus 2.0 RC1 Is Based on Razor-qt

The distribution also makes use of Slackware 14.0

Porteus, a portable Linux operating system which can be installed on a USB device, CDROM, SD card or hard drive, and based on the Linux Live Scripts, has just reached version 2.0 RC1.

Porteus 2.0 RC 1 has been released for the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and it's the first distribution in the series based on Slackware 14.0.

The distribution is now also based on Razor-qt as the desktop environment, replacing the Trinity/LXDE version.

Highlights of Porteus 2.0 RC1:

• Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.7.1 and the userland has been bumped to Slackware 14.0;

• The developers have to switch to initramfs and add a second initramfs for PXE booting;

• changes=EXIT cheatcode (many advantages) have been added;

• New install scripts for Linux and Windows have been added.
