Porteus 2.0 Final Is Based on Linux Kernel 3.7.8

All the desktop environments implemented have been updated

Porteus, a portable Linux operating system which can be installed on a USB device, CDROM, SD card or hard drive, and based on the Linux Live Scripts, has just reached version 2.0.

Porteus 2.0 has been released for the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and it's the first distribution in the series based on Slackware 14.0.

Highlights of Porteus 2.0:

• Linux kernel upgraded to version 3.7.8;

• Razor-qt replaced Trinity as the Desktop Environment for the 32-bit Standard Edition;

• All desktops were upgraded to their latest stable versions, KDE 4.9.5. Razor 0.5.2, Xfce 4.10, and LXDE;

• Mozilla Firefox has been updated to version 18.0.2;

• Porteus Package Manager now resolves all dependencies such as python and Perl;

• Porteus installation scripts were completely rewritten to be easier to use.
