The 32-bit version of Porteus comes with Linux kernel 3.1.8

Porteus, a portable Linux operating system which can be installed on an USB device, CDROM, SD card or hard drive, and based on the Linux Live Scripts, has just reached version 1.2 RC1.

Porteus 1.2 RC1 has been released for 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and brings a lot of changes and updates, such as:

· Linux kernel 3.2.6 for 64-bit editions; · Linux kernel 3.1.8 for 32-bit editions (3.2.6 is available in the extras folder); · KDE SC is now at version 4.8.0 (64-bit KDE/LXDE edition); · XFCE desktop 4.8.0 (XFCE edition for both archs); · Mozilla Firefox 10.0; · Support for encrypted .dat containers was added.

Download Porteus 1.2 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
