Plex Media Server is an application that allows users to play media content, like movies for instance, on their TV by streaming it from the PC. A new version has been released now and it has a very important Linux fix.

The Plex Media Server is available in two different versions, one for free and the other one for premium users. Usually, changes are first implemented in the premium edition and the free iteration gets them a few days later. In the case of the latest update, 0.9.11.1, a new Linux specific change has been made that could be very important.

"Plex gives you one simple interface to organize all of your media: your movie and TV collection, your music library, and all of your photos and home videos. It enriches your media library by adding descriptions, plot summaries, posters, and album covers. Enjoy your media on every TV in the house or on any mobile device on the go," reads the official website.

The developers have explained that a crash that occurred on the Linux platform when users set the wrong media directory permissions has been fixed, the rapid seeking feature has been improved, the SSLv3 protocol has been removed in the light of the exploit that has just been revealed, and the publishing of network connections is now much better.

You can get the latest Plex Media Server 0.9.11.1 for Linux right now from Softpedia.
