Plasma Media Center, a unified media experience on PCs, tablets, netbooks, TVs, and any other device that is capable of running KDE software, is now at version 1.1 Beta.

Canonical is not the only company that is striving to unify the user experience on multiple platforms, and the KDE developers are already working on it, but only for the media content. Highlight of Plasma Media Center 1.1 Beta:

• Keyboard navigation for “All Music” mode is now possible; • YouTube backend for watching videos has been completed; • The media file association with Plasma Media Center is now working properly; • Plasma Media Center command line options have been implemented (open audio and video files); • The option to go back to currently playing media by clicking an empty area in home-screen has been implemented.

A complete list of changes and new features can be found in the official announcement. Download Plasma Media Center 1.1 Beta right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
