Planet Explorers, an open world RPG developed by Pathea Games, has been released on Steam for multiple platforms, including Linux.

Planet Explorers has been released as part of the Steam Early Access program, which allows developers to make their games available to buyers, even if they are still in development. As it stands right now, the game is still in the Alpha stages and the studio still has a lot of work to do.

“In Planet Explorers, it is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet,” say the developers from Pathea Games on Steam.

The players will be expected to survive, by any means necessary, but this is a very different kind of game. You don't really have any objective, but you must solve the mystery of the planet. The game world can be explored either in single player or in multiplayer and consists of three distinct selections: Story Mode, Adventure Mode, and Build Mode.

This is a rather intensive game, from a graphical point of view. Players will need an operating system with Linux Kernal 3.2+, an i5+ processor, 6 GB of RAM, and at least a GTX 670 graphics card. These are the recommended requirements, but the game looks good and you should be able to match them for a complete experience.

More details about Planet Explorers can be found on the Steam for Linux website.
