Pentoo, a security-focused livecd based on Gentoo with lots of customized tools, customized kernel, tons of other features, is now at version 2012.0 Beta 3.
The Pentoo development team has acknowledged that every single 32-bit release they have done so far has been a failure. As a result, version 2012.0 Beta 3 of Pentoo is for the 64-bit platform.
“Issues have ranged from horrifying and unexplained build failures, to building perfectly but being completely unbootable, through booting at 1983 speeds and every command simply returning ‘segfault,” states the official announcement.
The most important aspect of the new release is the fact that the new installer works. The team has also performed a number of tweaks to improve the updating process and the system's customizations.
Pentoo 2012.0 Beta 3 also comes with new Wi-fi drivers, new video card drivers, and all the included password crackers have been updated to their latest versions.
A complete list of changes and updates is available in the official announcement.
