A few minutes ago, September 7, David Tavares has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the second Beta release of the upcoming Pear OS 8 Linux operating system.

Pear OS 8 Beta 2 features Firefox Omnibar and the final version of the Pear Welcome application, which we've detailed last month in an in-depth article.

The following applications have been updated in this second Beta version of Pear OS 8: My Pear 6, Pear Security, Pear Contacts, Pear Cloud, Pear Updater, and Pear Icons theme.

Moreover, several bugs were squashed in Pear OS 8 Beta 2, such as Pear Cloud share folder issue, Pear Security SRM bug, My Theater fault, DVD’s not playing, an error opening Pear Contact, Pear Updater daemon error, Pear Update notification error, multiple pop-ups for updates, and many others.

As usual, Pear OS 8 Beta 2 is distributed as Live DVD ISO images supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. For more details, please read the official release announcement. Download Pear OS 8 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a beta version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
