The 64-bit version of Opera 30 is now broken

Opera Software, through Ruarí Ødegaard, has announced today that the upcoming Opera 30 web browser, which is currently in the Developer channel, supports 32-bit distributions of GNU/Linux.

While the Stable and Beta channels of Opera remain supported only on 64-bit operating systems, Linux users who are using a 32-bit operating system can now install the next-generation of the Opera web browser too.

"Today we provide a 32-bit Linux version of our previous developer release," says Ruarí Ødegaard. "Sadly, there is no Linux 64-bit version this time around—some changes we originally made to accommodate the 32-bit version on our build systems, actually broke the 64-bit version."

However, today's announcement mentions the fact that the 32-bit support is here temporarily especially for dedicated Opera users who don't have 64-bit enabled hardware, and it will be dropped in future releases of the web browser.

As usual, you can download Opera 30 Dev for Linux right now from Softpedia. Keep in mind, though, that this is a pre-release version that might contain unresolved issues, which means that it is not recommended for production machines.
