The Opera developers have released a new version of their browser in the 25.x branch, but now they are no longer calling it Next, but Beta.

The Opera browser gets updated quite often, and the Linux users are more than happy to test any new feature that is made available by the developers. Now, it looks like the Opera devs have decided to rename their Next channel to Beta and to start a new chapter.

"The future of Opera bookmarks arrives to our freshly renamed Opera beta channel (formerly known as Opera Next). With Opera beta 25 we introduce a new way to experience bookmarks. Instead of just marking the page you can choose an image to go with it. With Opera bookmarks you are collecting 'things' not just 'links'," reads the official announcement.

Many of the features added by the Opera devs ended being adopted by many other competing browsers, so it won't be surprising to see these kinds of new bookmarks in Chrome or Firefox. Some of the other mentioned new features have been present for a while in Opera and the developers were just making a note of it.

You can download Opera 25.0.1614.11 for Linux right now from Softpedia.

Even if this is no longer a development release, it's still a Beta, so you might encounter some bugs and other issues. Don't use this software on a production machine
