The developer of Openshot Video Editor has taken his application to Kickstarter in an effort to raise money to port the software on other platforms.

The latest version released for Linux, Openshot 1.4.3, is a video editor that features 3D animation, curve-based camera motion, compositing, transitions, audio mixing, and vector titles.

The developer, Jonathan Thomas, wants to raise money in order to put the final touch-up on a brand new editing engine, which will be integrated in the next edition of Openshot.

“Over the past 2 years I have been developing a new, revolutionary, cross-platform video editing ‘engine’, designed to power the next version of OpenShot. My goal for this project, is to raise enough funds to complete the final features of this new engine, integrate it into OpenShot, and release it simultaneously for Windows, Mac, and Linux,” reads the Kickstarter announcement.

The project still has a solid 29 days to go and it's scheduled to end on April 17. If you are interested in this project and you want to pledge, just head over to the Kickstarter website.
