OpenSUSE 13.1 RC1, a free and Linux-based operating system for PCs, laptops, or servers that you can use to surf the web, manage your e-mails and photos, do office work, and play videos or music, has been released a couple of days ago and now we take a closer look at this new operating system.

The final version of OpenSuSE 13.1 should arrive in November, if everything goes well. The developers have managed to implemented a few interesting new features, including support for btrfs, which has been in development for ages.

OpenSUSE 13.1 RC1 comes with KDE 4.11.2, Gnome 3.10, Linux kernel 3.11.3, snapper 0.1.7, nginx, bluez5 (pulseaudio/gnome/kde integration to provide bluez5), plasma-nm (alternative gui for networkmanager in KDE), and a few more.

More details about this release can be found in the original report for the launch.
