OpenSUSE 12.1, a free and Linux-based operating system for PCs, laptops or servers which you can use to surf the web, manage your e-mails and photos, do office work, and play videos or music, has just reached End of Life (EOL).

The OpenSuSE development team has finally put the lid on OpenSUSE 12.1 and it will no longer receive any updates from SUSE.

“openSUSE 12.1 was the first openSUSE distribution maintained using OpenBuildService methods (known as "OBS Maintenance"), allowing full community participation, from the beginning.

“openSUSE 12.1 was released on November 16th 2011, making it 18 months of security and bugfix support,” reads the official announcement.

Moreover, there is almost no chance for OpenSUSE 12.1 to ever be added to the Evergreen project, but this decision is still subject to change.

In the meantime, you can download the latest OpenSUSE 12.3 from Softpedia.
