The stable branch of OpenELEC has received the first maintenance release

OpenELEC, an embedded operating system built specifically to run XBMC, the open source entertainment media hub, is now at version 3.0.1.

This is just a small maintenance release, with some bug and security fixes implemented since the previous version. Users can upgrade from 2.9x.x or 3.x to 3.0.1.

Highlights of OpenELEC 3.0.1:

• The underlying OS, XBMC, has been updated to version 12.1.6; • Fixes for the Audio Engine, RaspberryPi and others, have been implemented; • The RPi patches have been updated; • GCC has been updated to version 4.7.3; • Systemd has been updated to version 200; • Support for the TechniSat SkyStar S2 card with CX24120-13Z frontend has been added; • ALSA upstream patches, backported from 3.8.7, have been implemented.
