The country is using RHEL and RHEL-related distros

North Korea might be an autocracy, but that doesn't mean it doesn't use and love Linux, even if the Americans are contributing to it.

According to a report on thevarguy.com, North Korea is an avid open source user although, given the poor economy, this is not actually a surprise.

On the other hand, one of the preferred open source solutions is RHEL 5 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), which is used to power the Korean Central News Agency.

A RHEL derivative, CentOS, is also used by the Rodung Sinmun newspaper. And this is only what can be discerned at the surface. It's hard to get much better intel on the operating system from a country that is essentially closed to the outside.

Interestingly enough, RHEL 5 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) is not free, even if it's a Linux operating system, and you need to pay some serious money for it, especially if you are a big news organization.
