New Versions of KDE Might Get Released Every 3 Months

A new proposal regarding the KDE release schedule has been made

The KDE developers don’t have a particularly crammed release schedule, but this fact might change with the new versions.

The KDE versions have been pouring out at a good pace in the past, but the developers of KDE want to release updates for the desktop environment with a greater frequency.

“The main motivation for this change is to reduce the amount of time between releases and make them simpler, making us able to deliver new features faster to our users while keeping if not improving the current quality.”

“The time elapsed between big releases (4.12, 4.13, 4.14...) will be of 3 months (instead of 6) having the following structure: two month for merging features and one month to prepare the release,” reads the official proposal on the KDE community website.

You have to keep in mind that this is just a proposal, but given the fact that the KDE are already being released at similar intervals, this might become the official mantra.
