The browser on Ubuntu Touch might get a new look soon

Ubuntu for phones is constantly receiving improvements and updates, but the browser was a little behind. It looks now that it's about to receive an overhaul.

Let's face it, the present browser on Ubuntu Touch is not the most appealing application on that platform and it could do with some improvements. It remained pretty much the same for a long time, but when the new OS arrives soon on various phones, it will be one of the most used pieces of software on that platform.

It's understandable that an overhaul of the design is in order and Ubuntu developer Adnane Belmadiaf shared some new browser designs, which actually look great. The application is a lot more crisp and it integrates beautifully in the operating system.

Canonical plans to release a new RTM version for Ubuntu Touch, which will eventually mature into a very stable release for the upcoming launch of Ubuntu phones this fall. The developers are still working on what features to integrate into the RTM, but it's possible that the new design will also make it.

The developers have been working on the operating system for more than a year and it shows. It's possible to install Ubuntu Touch if you have a Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 device.
