Valve has launched a new stable version for its Steam for Linux client, featuring a slew of new features and a lot of fixes and improvements.

When a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable, and the work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

Highlights of the latest Beta Steam for Linux update:

• A particle system fuzziness in Big Picture has been added on Linux and OSX to match Windows; • Several bugs, where users with multiple X360 XInput devices may not have had their controller function, have been fixed; • An issue where contents of UI may not repaint after a change has been corrected.

More details can be found in the official announcement. Download the Steam for Linux installer from Softpedia.

In order to get the latest update, users just have to start the application and make sure they’re enrolled in the Beta program.
