Canonical has announced on November 8 that they've released an updated Linux kernel package for its still supported Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) operating system, fixing five kernel vulnerabilities discovered in the Linux kernel packages by various developers.

These are the five kernel vulnerabilities that affect the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) distribution: CVE-2013-2147, CVE-2013-2889, CVE-2013-2893, CVE-2013-2897, and CVE-2013-4299.

To learn more about each one, and see how exactly they affect your system, click on them or visit the official security notice for in-depth descriptions, as it affects other Linux operating systems as well.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your Ubuntu 10.04 LTS system(s) to the linux-image-2.6.32-53 (2.6.32-53.115) package(s). To apply the update, run the Update Manager application or follow the instructions on the following web page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Security/Upgrades.

Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!
