Almost a month ago, we announced the release of Nautilus (Files) 3.16 Beta 1, which brought various fixes and improvements to the default file manager application of the forthcoming GNOME 3.16 desktop environment. Today, we announce the second Beta release of Nautilus 3.16.

According to the raw changelog, Nautilus 3.16 Beta 2 introduces dimmed labels for list columns, makes the toolbar buttons accessible for A11y, no longer displays notifications in desktop, add support for exiting the search mode through the Esc key, repairs the new folder shortcut, and fixes the delete shortcut in the Trash.

Moreover, the second Beta release of Nautilus (Files) 3.16 no longer uses libgd notifications, as it implements them with the GTK+ toolkit. Some translation issues with notifications have been repaired in this unstable release, users will be able to properly open multiple files in another application, and some issues with the size of the icons on desktop have been repaired.

Nautilus 3.16 will be part of GNOME 3.16, due for release on March 25, 2015. Until then, you can download the Nautilus 3.16 Beta 2 sources right now from Softpedia, while keeping in mind that it’s an unstable release that should not be installed on production machines. An RC (Release Candidate) version of Nautilus 3.16 should appear in the coming days with minor changes.
