Someone pointed out the similarities between the two wallpapers

Windows Vista was released back in 2007, but it seems that one of its stock wallpapers looks a lot like the default one used in Ubuntu 10.04.

A Windows Vista user (and probably an Ubuntu fan as well) noticed a resemblance between two wallpapers, one in the Microsoft product and the other one in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

To be clear, Windows Vista was released at the end of 2006, which is three years before the arrival of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx). For one, the wallpaper is not used as the default one in Windows Vista, but it is the default background in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Secondly, the resemblance is not actually uncanny, but more of a style issue. The designers used the same kind of color palate and color distribution. Placed side by side, the two are pretty different, but anyone can see the resemblance at a glance.
