Arne Exton, the creator of numerous distributions of GNU/Linux, including the untroublesome and fast Exton|OS, had the pleasure of informing us today, February 14, about a new build for its MeX Linux computer operating system based on Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn), Debian 8 Jessie, and Linux Mint 17.1 (Rebecca).

MeX Linux build 150214 is now powered by the recently released Linux kernel 3.19, replacing the old and deprecated Linux 3.16 kernel used in the previous build. In addition, the new release of MeX Linux replaces Cairo-Dock with Docky, which is used in the distribution as a taskbar located on the upper part of the screen (see the screenshots for details).

Of course, all packages in MeX Linux 150214 have been updated to their latest versions as of February 14, 2015. However, the most important change is the addition of the MeX Installer, which replaces Ubuntu’s Ubiquity Installer, allowing even a 10-year-old to install the distro on a personal computer.

As usual, we’ve prepared a screenshot tour, so you won’t have to download the distribution if you don’t like how it looks. If you prefer to download MeX Linux 150214 right now, keep in mind that it works only with on 64-bit PCs.
