Compiz is used as the default window manager

The MakuluLinux KDE 7 distribution has been officially released this past weekend, bringing a rock solid, stable, secure, responsive, safe and gorgeous KDE graphical desktop environment based on the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Core operating system, which is supported with software updates and security patches until 2019.

We took the MakuluLinux KDE 7 distribution for a test drive and discovered that it is powered by Linux kernel 3.13 with PAE (Physical Address Extension) support, which is actually the same kernel used on the upstream Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr) OS.

KDE 4.14.2 is used as the default desktop environment in the new release of the distribution, along with Compiz as the default window manager, replacing KWin. Another interesting fact is that only 390 MB of RAM are used on the initial boot, making the distro usable on all sorts of computers.

However, please note that the distro only includes software packages optimized for the 32-bit (i686) CPU architecture, and does not support 64-bit apps, as the developer is not ready to move to a 64-bit OS.

A complete overview of the MakuluLinux KDE 7 computer operating system can be watched in the video below created for your viewing pleasure by its developer, Jacque Montague Raymer. In the meantime, you can download MakuluLinux KDE 7.0 right now from Softpedia.
