The Mageia development team has announced on October 3 the immediate availability for download of the third and last Alpha release of the upcoming Mageia 4 Linux operating system.

Being powered by Linux kernel 3.11.2, Mageia 4 Alpha 3 uses KDE 4.11.1, GNOME 3.10, LibreOffice 4.1.2.3, systemd 207, RPM 4.11.0, Mono 3.2.1, Qt 4.8.5, Monodevelop 4.0.9, Gambas3 3.4.2, and Perl 5.18.0 RAID management.

Moreover, this is the first release to introduce the MageiaWelcome application, which is supposed to greet new comers and help them discover the Mageia Linux operating system.

Mageia 4 Alpha 3 is distributed as two Live CD ISO images with the GNOME and KDE desktop environments, supporting only the 32-bit architecture, a dual Arch CD, as well as Live DVD and installable only DVD ISO images for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

Download Mageia 4 Alpha 3 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is an alpha release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
