Mad Max, a game developed by Avalanche Studios that follows the release of the movie with the same name, will arrive on Steam for Linux on September 4, 2015.

The name of the studio, Avalanche Studios, might seem familiar especially if you ever played the famous Just Cause series. They are masters of open-world games and a Mad Max title will fit like a glove. The game is published by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, which would make this the first title for Linux from this particular publisher.

"Developed by Avalanche Studios, gamers become Mad Max, a lone warrior who must fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using vicious on-ground and vehicular combat against savage bandits. Following the theft of his iconic Interceptor, Max must align himself with a gifted, but peculiar, mechanic named Chumbucket and others to build the ultimate war vehicle as he works to escape from the dangerous Wasteland," said the devs.

From what has been revealed until now in the press release, Linux will be a launch platform (SteamOS to be more precise), but there is no information regarding whether it will be developed in-house, by a third studio, or if it's even going to be a native port. In any case, it's good to see that a new major publisher is looking to support the Linux platform.
