The final version of Lubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail), an LXDE-based Linux distribution, has been announced by Canonical. Check out this short screenshot tour.
Lubuntu is a distribution that aims to be a lightweight operating system, which uses the minimal desktop LXDE and a selection of light applications.
The highlights of this new Lubuntu release are as follows: a new Pcmanfm version, an improved windows manager (Openbox), the introduction of Lightdm, and the use of Chromium internet browser.
The system requirements are quite low. According to the developers, a Pentium II or Celeron system with 128 MB of RAM is probably a bottom-line configuration that may yield a slow, yet usable system, with a standard Lubuntu desktop.
A complete list of changes and new features can be found in the official announcement.
