Today Canonical announced the release of the final version for  Ubuntu Linux operating systems, including Lubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail).

Today Canonical announced the release of the final version for Ubuntu Linux operating systems, including Lubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail).

Just as the name suggests, Lubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) is based on the LXDE desktop environment.

Highlights of Lubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail):

• A new version of pcmanfm / libfm (1.1.0) has been implemented. This includes a built-in search utility;
• Artwork improvements, including new wallpapers, have been integrated;
• catfish has been removed;
• A very old bug, which caused the gnome-mplayer to crash with some CPUs (P4), has been fixed;
• Several fixes for the image viewer gpicview have been implemented;
• The distribution also integrates Openbox and Lightdm (it uses the simple GTK greeter).
