Not too many changes in this new version of Lubuntu

Lubuntu is now at its second major release and Canonical has announced that it has reached version 12.04, along with its older brothers, Ubuntu 12.04, Xubuntu 12.04 and Kubuntu 12.04.

Lubuntu is based on the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE) and its goal is to provide a lightweight distribution, (with all the advantages from the Ubuntu world (repositories, support, etc.)), that anyone can use, no matter how old the PC is.

The target user group for this flavor of the Ubuntu OS will be either those users who might not be proficient in using command-line tools or those users who might not have enough resources for all the bells and whistles of the "full-featured" mainstream distribution.

Lubuntu 12.04 now uses Lightdm as the display manager, with the default GTK greeter, has a new software center optimized for it, and the artwork was updated.
