Cinnamon, a Linux desktop environment based on GNOME 3 that provides new features while preserving a more conventional approach, is now at version 2.0.12.

Users of Ubuntu 13.04 and Ubuntu 13.10 have noticed that they aren't able to login back in Unity after installing the new Cinnamon 2.0. This problem was finally fixed with the lest update, which is available through the regular PPA.

If you don't have Cinnamon 2.0.x installed, the procedure is very simple and you will only have to enter a few commands in a terminal (with root access):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install cinnamon

If you already have the PPA installed, just enter these commands instead:

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

With all the problems solved (at least major ones), you can now enjoy Cinnamon in Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander).
