The final version of Linux Mint Debian 201403, a new update in the Mint family, has been announced and it’s now ready for download.

This edition of Linux Mint had a very short incubation period and, after only one development release, the final version has been made available for download.

Calling it a final version might be a bit of a stretch because Linux Mint Debian serves only one purpose, to provide the Mint operating system running on Debian testing, rather than Ubuntu.

According to the developers, this edition of Linux Mint comes with Cinnamon and MATE as the default desktop environments, for both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

Linux Mint Debian 201403 integrates the latest Update Pack 8, Cinnamon 2.0, MATE 1.6 (the new MATE 1.8 might arrive very soon in the repositories), the latest Mint tools and improvements from the previous releases, and support for EFI and GPT, which will allow users to install Mint on UEFI systems that already have an operating system present.

The system requirements are also quite low, as we have come to expect from Mint OSes: an x86 processor (LMDE 64-bit requires a 64-bit processor), 1GB RAM, 5 GB of disk space, and a graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution.
