Clement Lefebvre, the leader of the Linux Mint project, has announced that ISO images for the Cinnamon and MATE editions of Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" have been updated and marked as "v2."

Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" was released only a month ago, but in all that time some important issues have been fixed by the developers. In order to make users’ lives a little bit easier, the Linux Mint devs have decided to regenerate the ISO images with the new fixes.

According to the changelog made available today, MDM no longer crashes with non-xrandr compatible GPUs, an option in the installer which stated "Replace $OS and install Linux Mint" has been removed because it was considered ambiguous, and the Driver Manager has been fixed because it assumed the user was running a manually installed driver when in the presence of a device which required the installation of "linux-firmware-nonfree."

Also, a problem that caused the installer to corrupt the APT sources has been corrected, the Steam, Wine, Skype, LibreOffice-base applications should run much better right out of the box, and all the level 1 updates and bug fixes published since the official release a month ago have been added to the new ISO images.

If you already have Linux Mint 17 installed, you don’t have to do anything special. Just keep updating the system and you will be just fine. The new ISOs are for users who are only now installing the operating system and can be downloaded right now from Softpedia. Also, the KDE and Xfce editions don’t need a "v2" for their images.
