The Linux Mint 13 Release Candidate was announced last night, on May 16th, and it is powered by Linux kernel 3.2 and based on the recently released Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) operating system.

Dubbed Maya, Linux Mint 13 RC comes with new features, such as the new MATE 1.2, Cinnamon 1.4, MDM Display Manager based on GDM 2.20, improved Mint-Z and Mint-X GTK3 themes, 15 new and beautiful wallpapers, Yahoo! as the default search engine, and much more.

Linux Mint 13 will be released at the end of May 2012 and it will be supported for five years, until April 2017.

Linux Mint 13 RC is distributed as separate Live DVD ISO images with MATE and Cinnamon desktop environments, for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

Download Linux Mint 13 RC right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
