All users of the Linux 3.9 kernel series must upgrade to a new version of the kernel

On July 21, Greg Kroah-Hartman announced that the eleventh maintenance release for Linux kernel 3.9 is now available for download.

Linux kernel 3.9.11 is a rather small release, but the most important aspect is that it's actually the last for this branch. This latest kernel update has officially marked the 3.9.x branch as EOL.

"I'm announcing the release of the 3.9.11 kernel. Note, this is the LAST 3.9-stable kernel. It is now dead, end-of-life, not to be touched by me again, please move to 3.10 now, you have been warned," Greg Kroah-Hartman said in the official release announcement.

Users have been urged to either upgrade to the latest kernel in this branch, 3.9.11 (not the best course of action), or to just skip ahead to the 3.10 branch.
