The latest version of the stable Linux kernel, 3.10.9, has been announced by Greg Kroah-Hartman and it's now available for download.

It's rather unusual for a kernel branch to get updates in less than 12 hours, but it happens nonetheless. This is just the case with the latest 3.10.9, which has been released to fix only one bug regarding the networking.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.10.9 kernel. If you don't use networking, you can stick with 3.10.8, otherwise I'd recommend updating to this version.

“The updated 3.10.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.10.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary,” Greg Kroah-Hartman said in the email announcement.

If you are using any of the versions released so far in the Linux kernel 3.10.x branch, you should update to the newest one as soon as possible.

A complete list of commits in this branch of the kernel can be found in the official announcement. Download Linux kernel 3.10.9 right now from Softpedia.
