Immediately after announcing Linux kernel 4.0.4, Greg Kroah-Hartman published details about Linux kernel 3.10.79, an LTS (Long Term Support) release that will be updated for a few more years.

According to the attached shortlog, Linux Kernel 3.10.79 LTS is a small release that fixes a few issues with the ARM architectures, repairs bugs in the NILFS2 and OCFS2 filesystems, addresses a problem with the OSS sound server, and updates several drivers, especially for GPIO, APCI, MMC, PINCTRL, and Intel i915.

"I'm announcing the release of the 3.10.79 kernel. All users of the 3.10 kernel series must upgrade," says Greg Kroah-Hartman in the mailinglist announcement. "The updated 3.10.y git tree can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary."

As usual, all users are urged to upgrade to Linux kernel 3.10.79 LTS as soon as the package becomes available in the main software repositories of their GNU/Linux operating systems. In the meantime, you can download Linux kernel 3.10.79 LTS right now via Softpedia or directly from the kernel.org website.
