A new Release Candidate for Linux kernel 3.13 has been made available and, according to Linus Torvalds, this is the last development version for this cycle.

It's been a long time coming, but the development cycle to Linux kernel 3.13 is nearing its end, somewhat quicker than the previous ones.

“Let's hope things keep calm, and that I can make the final 3.13 next week when I get back home. But for that all to work well, you guys need to test. Ok?” said Linus Torvalds in the official announcement.

Believe it or not, the short life of this current development cycle might influence the Linux kernel version that will be used in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr). As it stands right now, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS might feature Linux kernel 3.13, but if the next version of the kernel, 3.14, spends a short time in development, it might get picked up by the Ubuntu developer.
