A security vulnerability that was discovered in Light Display Manager by Ryan Lortie, this time affecting the Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system, was announced by Canonical.

Light Display Manager could be made to delete files as root. Ryan Lortie discovered that a guest session script bundled in the Light Display Manager package improperly cleaned out certain guest session files. A local attacker could use this issue to delete arbitrary files.

The security flaw can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to Light Display Manager 1.0.6. You can check more information about this security vulnerability CVE-2012-0943 by clicking the link.
