After announcing the second maintenance release of LibreOffice 4.4 at the beginning of April, the Document Foundation seeded this past weekend to testers worldwide the first Release Candidate of upcoming LibreOffice 4.4.3, the third point release of the acclaimed open-source office suite.

LibreOffice 4.4.3 RC1 (Release Candidate) comes today with a number of bugfixes and improvements in various areas, including Office Open XML (OOXML) support, 3D pie-chart fixes, Graphite layout fixes, PPTX import, as well as OOXML chart legend import.

Among other improvements implemented in this first Release Candidate version of LibreOffice 4.4.3, we can mention the addition of missing SwXPageStyle properties, removal of stray separator, export of formulas to Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), and support for accessing dav, davs URLs via GVFS (GNOME Virtual File System).

According to the official release schedule, the final LibreOffice 4.4.3 update will be announced at the beginning of May, after the release of the second Release Candidate version at the end of April. LibreOffice 4.4 will have three more maintenance releases.
