The final version should be ready any minute now

The Document Foundation has just announced that the second RC (Release Candidate) for the LibreOffice 4.4.3 branch has been released and is now available for download and testing.

The new RC has arrived just a couple of weeks after the previous one, which falls in line with the schedule already proposed for this new branch. It's a really small update, with just a few fixes, which means that the final version should be just around the corner.

As you would expect, it's not indicated to have two different versions of the LibreOffice suite installed at the same time. "The Linux packages can be installed in parallel to LibreOffice 4.3, but not run simultaneously - documents will be opened in the version you've started first," is noted on the official website.

According to the changelog, the command line now starts with a space (gcc-wrappers), imported bitmaps are no longer overridden, the PDF export of transparent Writer frames in LO 4.3 has been fixed, the ODF export has been refined and an incorrect label for Table Caption in Spanish localization has been fixed. This is pretty much it, and the PDF changes seem to be the most important.

You can download the LibreOffice 4.4.3 RC2 source packages from Softpedia if you want to compile them yourself. You can also get the Windows or Mac OS X versions from Softpedia as well.
