The Document Foundation has just released the first Release Candidate for LibreOffice 4.3.7, which is a stable and established branch of the office suite.

Despite the fact that the 4.3.x branch of LibreOffice has been around for some time, the developers are still finding things to fix and improve. It's not clear how many point updates will be released, but it seems that 4.3.7 is going to be quite interesting.

According to the changelog, the importing process from OOXML files has been refined, matrix calculations have been improved, dialogues can be closed again by clicking the X button, a crash that occurred when closing DOCX document has been fixed, the PPTX import has been refined, and numerous fixes have been implemented.

More details about this latest release can be found in the official changelog. Also, please keep in mind that this office suite is available on a number of different platforms, including Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. The Linux version is distributed as a source package, so it would be best to wait until the official repositories make it available.

You can download the LibreOffice 4.3.7 RC1 source packages from Softpedia if you want to compile them yourself. You can also get the Windows or Mac OS X versions from Softpedia as well.
