The Document Foundation has just published some details about the upcoming LibreOffice 4.2 release, detailing a lot of the features and changes.

This new branch of LibreOffice is still in the development stages, and it will take some time for the developers to release a stable version. This doesn't mean that we can't already see some of the features proposed.

Highlights of the upcoming LibreOffice 4.2:

• Support for group shapes will be added; • Embedding images into HTML files will enable sending merge mails with images in HTML format; • The Spellcheck popup menu now allows changing the tracking operation; • WEBSERVICE and FILTERXML spreadsheet functions for access to web data will be added; • Icons will be added to slides having custom animation or transition set, in presenter view, making it easier to present the whole content of the slides.

Check the official website for more details about this release. A download for the first Alpha version will be available soon.
