The Document Foundation has announced that the first Beta version for LibreOffice 4.2.0 is now available for the Linux platform, which marks the start of another development cycle.

The developer has said the starting with version 4.0.0, the LibreOffice installer files have a new naming scheme.

According to the changelog, the subscript text is now exported properly, the DOCX and RTF import and export functions have been improved, equations are now properly updated in the status bar, the ruler Comment control now disappears when it’s appropriate, the RPM-only install script is no longer packaged into DEB packs , and much more.
