The Steam Beta client has been upgraded by Valve

Valve has released a new update for the Steam Beta client and they have implemented a couple of new features and they have repaired a number of smaller issues.

The previous version of the Steam client came with a very important new feature, which is a frame counter. This type of functionality has been provided until now by third-party applications, like Fraps for example, but now it's possible from the Steam client. Of course, if you're not running the game through Steam, you'll still need to use other apps.

Some small refinements have been implemented for the FPS counter feature. Users can now change the location of the counter, the function has been scaled to fir proportionally with the screen resolution currently in use, and the video playback should be much better.

As usual, you will need to opt in the Beta from the Settings and that means that the client will restart and update itself. The Beta version is not as stable as the regular one and users might encounter problems and other errors, although things should work just fine for the most part.

You can download the Steam for Linux client for Softpedia, but please keep in mind that this is more like a downloader than the actual client and it's provided officially by Valve.
