Natural Selection 2, an immersive, multiplayer shooter that pits aliens against humans in a strategic and action-packed struggle for survival, is now available on Steam for Linux with a 75% discount.

Natural Selection 2 combines two very distinct genres that are not usually found together, RTS and FPS. The game will pit two sides against one other, the Frontiersmen marines and the aliens Kharaa.

"Whether you play as one of the elite marine Frontiersmen or the vicious alien Kharaa, you must use unique strategies and your abilities to win. Marines form persistent squads to find and destroy alien hives. Aliens can choose a wall-running Skulk, pudgy Gorge, flying Lerk, murderous Fade or gigantic Onos that can smash through doors," reads the synopsis on Steam.

The system requirements for the Linux platform haven't been published, but they are pretty close to the ones for Windows: a Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, AMD X800, NVidia 8600 or better, and 5 GB of HDD space.

The developers of Natural Selection 2 have turned over the development of the game to the community, a move that prolonged the life of this particular title.

The promotion will last for a little over a day, so you must hurry.
