LFTP 4.5.5, a sophisticated file transfer program with a command-line interface that supports FTP, HTTP, FISH, SFTP, HTTPS, and FTPS protocols, is ready for download.

The developers have explained that all the operations made with LFTP are reliable, which means that, if any non-fatal error occurs, the operation is retried automatically. The software supports numerous protocols, but it can also handle a few other tasks, such as BitTorrent downloads, SRV DNS records, job queuing, bookmarks, aliases, and many more.

According to the changelog, support has been implemented for internationalized domain names, a new lftp --norc option has been added, the mirror "Finished" message is now displayed, the ftp:catch-size setting has been implemented, and the net:max-retries setting has been fixed.

It's also worth noting that the byte counters in the mirror status have been fixed, a segfault in ftps has been corrected, a spurious error message in fxp and ftp has been removed, a new setting mirror:sort-by (name, size, date) has been added, the CPU and memory usage has been reduced, and an occasional "BUG:deadlock" message has been fixed.

A complete list of changes and improvements can be found in the official announcement. You can download LFTP 4.5.5 right now from Softpedia.
