Following the release of Ubuntu 11.10, Canonical has just announced that its KDE based Ubuntu OS, Kubuntu, has also reached version 11.10.

Kubuntu comes with a wealth of new features and updated applications. Muon Software Center is the new application management (alongside Package Manager) which provides  user-friendly and power-user interface for package management.

The new OS also features Kubuntu-low-fat-settings, a package that brings a collection of configuration settings that turn off some services, krunner plugins, and graphical effects.

Among the updated applications we can list KDE SC 4.7.2, Amarok 2.4.3 (with native upport for remote NFS and SMB/CIFS collections), Kdepim 4.7.2 (includes Kmail 2), and QtCreator 2.2.1 which  provides configurable mime types and code snippets support for the Bazaar version control system as well as improved support for Qt Quick.
