KDE has published the release schedule of the next major release of the KDE Applications software suite for the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

Now that KDE announced KDE Applications 15.04 and its first point release, the time has come for them to concentrate their efforts on the development of KDE Applications 15.08, which will be released close to the proposed August 25 launch date for KDE Plasma 5.4.

According to the KDE Applications 15.08 release schedule, the dependency freeze will start one month from today, on July 15, and we should be able to test the Beta version sometime around July 22.

While the Release Candidate (RC) version of KDE Applications 15.08 was set for August 5, the KDE Applications 15.08 tagging will take place on August 12, and the final release will be available on August 19, 2015.

Now, we all know that these dates are not nailed to the ground and that the release schedule can suffer modifications at any given time because of unexpected bugs or other issues. Developers are instructed to make sure their dependencies won't cause any problems.

KDE has also noted on the release schedule for KDE Applications 15.08 that all the apps that will be included in the software suite can be based on KDE Frameworks 5 or kdelibs4. The decision belongs to the maintainer of the respective app.
