The KDE Project developers have just released the first Release Candidate of Applications and Platform 4.13, and it's all about fixes and improvements.

“KDE has released the release candidate of the 4.13 versions of Applications and Development Platform. With API, dependency and feature freezes in place, the focus is now on fixing bugs and further polishing,” said the KDE developers.

The KDE developers have urged the users to download and test the new KDE 4.13 RC, because its impossible for them to test the new releases on a variety of hardware configurations. Unfortunately, installing the latest KDE is not as simply as it sounds. If you're lucky, the distribution that you are using might provide the users with the development option. If not, you're going to have to compile it yourself. You can find important information about compiling in the KDE website.

More details about this build and the feature in the new branch can be found in the official announcement. Also, you can download the latest KDE Applications and Development Platform 4.13 RC sources right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
